How we keep it real
A few things keep the community trustworthy:
- Verification. Members can confirm their identity and earn a badge. Guides who charge for plans must be verified.
- Public profiles are opt-in. You only appear in the directory if you choose to. You can hide yourself anytime from your dashboard.
- Escrow on paid plans. Money for ticketed plans is held until after the plan - see payments and escrow.
This isn't a dating app
Istanbul Nomads is for working, meeting, and building a community. It's not for romantic matching, and unsolicited DMs of that kind aren't welcome. Keep it respectful - treat people the way you'd want a stranger in a new city to treat you.
Meeting people safely
- Meet in public places first - cafes, coworking spaces, daytime plans.
- A badge means an identity was checked, not that we vouch for someone personally. Use your own judgment.
- Tell a friend where you're going if you're meeting someone new one-on-one.
- For anything involving money, get the details in writing and never feel rushed.
Reporting a problem
If someone makes you uncomfortable, breaks the spirit of the community, or you suspect a scam, reach out to the organizers on Telegram (linked in the footer). We'd much rather hear about it early.
