Do you need a coworking space?

Many nomads in Istanbul work from cafes most of the time. Istanbul's cafe culture is strong, wifi is generally reliable, and nobody rushes you out. But a coworking space gives you a guaranteed fast connection, a proper desk, and a community of people working on similar things.

Our take: Get a coworking membership if you take video calls regularly or need reliable 100+ Mbps. Work from cafes if you mostly do deep work and can handle occasional wifi drops.

Kolektif House

The most popular coworking chain among Istanbul's nomad community. Multiple locations, modern interiors, and a social atmosphere. The Levent location has a rooftop terrace between skyscrapers. The Karakoy location is closest to the tourist center.

Best for: Nomads who want a social coworking community and flexible access across Istanbul.

Workinton

A professional-focused chain with locations in business districts. More corporate feel than Kolektif House but with excellent facilities and ergonomic furniture. The Levent location is in a high-rise with city views.

Best for: Professionals who need meeting rooms and a polished environment for client calls.

MOB (Maker's of Beyoglu)

A creative coworking space popular with the nomad community. The Kadikoy location is the go-to for Asian-side nomads. Smaller and more intimate than the big chains, with a strong community feel.

Best for: Creative freelancers and nomads in Kadikoy who want a small community space.

Part of the global Impact Hub network. Focused on social impact and sustainability. Located in Kagithane (north of the center). Good if you're working on a social enterprise or want to connect with local startups.

Tips for working from cafes

1. Test wifi before ordering. Open fast.com on your phone before committing to a spot.
2. Bring a power strip. Outlets exist but are sometimes shared. A small strip lets you charge multiple devices.
3. Arrive before 10am. The best seats with outlets fill up fast, especially on weekdays.
4. Order regularly. Buy a drink every 1-2 hours. Cafe owners notice, and it keeps you welcome.
5. Avoid peak lunch hours (12-2pm) for cafes in business areas - they get packed and noisy.
6. Kadikoy and Cihangir have the highest density of laptop-friendly spots. You can cafe-hop all day without walking more than 10 minutes.
